The NPC Board of Directors and National Conference Committee are pleased to announce the location for our 20th Anniversary National Conference. The conference will be held February 10th through 13th, 2009 at the Grand Sierra Resort and Casino in RENO,
NEVADA. Edgar Sanchez of Modern Method Gunite in Houston, Texas and this years
National Conference Chair stated that the Board and Committee were looking to keep the conference on the West Coast for a number of reasons.

Times are tough and many industry members are cutting expenses which will include for some, the number of associations they belong to. NPC’s dues are the lowest of all the trade associations in the industry today but give you back a significant amount of information and assistance.
NEW IPSSA LIAISON APPROVED…
WELCOME GARY MEYER
At their recent meeting on May 3rd in Boston, MA, the NPC Board of Directors unanimously approved the recommendation of the IPSSA Board of Governors to appoint Gary Meyer of Los Gatos, CA as the official IPSSA Liaison. Gary replaces Dan Gossage from Bourne, TX who held this position with distinction since 2004.
NPC COLLABORATES WITH APSP ON
HOT TUB ENERGY STUDY
The NPC Board of Directors approved a motion to collaborate with APSP on the current Hot Tub Study being conducted by the center. The NPC will be the official sponsor of the study at the Cal Poly National Pool Industry Research Center with APSP funding the program through the Hot Tub Council. The study involves the testing of 27 hot tubs/spas for energy usage. The study will be the foundation for the California Energy Commission’s (CEC) adoption of a hot tub energy standard.

We wish you “ALL THE BEST” and “YOU WILL BE MISSED” were the resounding message from NPC Board Members responding to Robert Burke’s resignation from the NPC Board of Directors. Rob had a major event in his life when his son was diagnosed with cancer several months ago. Robbie, age 17, just completed his last chemo therapy treatment which by all accounts has been successful. There will be some follow up treatments to insure that all cancer has been removed.
Dave Schilli Appointed Chair of NEW Scholarship Committee
Alan Smith, Chairman of the National Board of Directors is pleased to announce the appointment of Dave Schilli as (the first) Chair of the newly established Rey Perales Memorial Scholarship Fund. Dave and his committee will be responsible for setting up the final guidelines and process along with selecting our first scholarship winners.
